WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS DEFINITIONS AND CONNOTATIONS OF THE TERMS "ORNAMENR" IN ARCHITECTURE? FOR EXAMPLE HOW IS "ORNAMENTS" SIMILAR OR DIFFERENR FROM TERMS LIKE "DECORATION", "APPLICATION", "INTERGRATION", "FUNCTION" ?

Ornament is both technical and social, it is art and math. It is theory and application. It is physics but it is adherent. It is history and current and timeless. Ornament is variable.

The figures, patterns, geometric translations, the symbolic and material connote references and meaning for one who interests with ornaments.

Decoration is a composite whole of complementary unlike ornaments,the parts need only relate to each other in the way they relate to the whole.

Ornaments does relate to the whole composition and does argument the perception of these who interact with it. Ornament can connote for the user of an object or the seer of the ornament on it, particular feelings, historical and references. Decoration is not ornament, but orna-ment can be decoration.

SIMPLICITY AND COMPLEXITY Regards of simplicity and complexity which we had discussed from the lecture today, I will be discussing about the design project that I had developed during my Year 2 Sem3. In the project, we are required to design a Art Gallery in a specific site which located in Shah Alam. The reasons I choose this specific project is because I find that the layout design and outcome of the building suits well to the ‘Simplicity’ concept.
