THE OTHER's PLACE Ekaphap Duangkaew A Young architect born in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A founder of EKAR and Co-founder of NOTDS, an experience architect in public and residential architecture, m ost of his projects are in Thailand (Bangkok and Chiang Mai) which is a mixture of local and urban. T-House T-House, a combination of home,  office, a warehouse, plus a residence for family expansion. According to an initial requirement of the project owner, Khun Noppawarat Pornputhakul, the main functions of T-House were created to support her family business, a cloth wholesaller from Pratunam District. To maintain the circulations and routine of the old house in Nonthaburi Province, a new built needed to be not just only a residence for an expanding family plus a small garment storage, but also needed to include an additional space for a new office and prepare an area for a further phase of family extension. 5. What are your reasons to become or not become an architect?

In my opinion Architecture is rough. It’s definitely not a profession for everyone,  Architecture can be more of a lifestyle than just a job. To me the reason to be an architect is because of the  most beautiful aspect of architecture as a profession is how the industry embraces the individuality of each person, this is how architects is able to unleash their inner wildness and creativity. Architecture are good at defending their own opinion, because we student  were emotionally affected by a beautiful building, but in the classroom “beautiful” is not enough to convince the lecturers and professors. Most importantly architect is able to manage stress....a lot of it, so there is a reason why we called architorture instead of architecture.  Going thru architecture school takes you through a very in-depth journey, it help you understanding your needs, and figuring out how you can be successful on your own terms. The Could Haves in UCSI's Architecture

In Architecture School, there should have a freedom in exploration unexplored ideas.  Unfortunately, UCSI produces top quality students, but projects were clearly were already been there and done that. Ideas that are not being explore and the lecturer's in studios do not know how to entertain the idea. Coming from a diploma course, we were allowed to explore ideas that are crazy and out of the box. But in Degree, we were force to be mould into something else rather than enhancing our own style in architecture. It frustrates and the stress is overwhelming because within the tutorials, the lecturers provided some ideas to progress, but when done exactly as what the lecturer provided, with a few of my ideas to apply, we were criticise with passion.   The stage and mission of a project at a particular semester, we were suppose to focus on the design concept, the idea and learning process of the design then only the technical details.
